In the\nrecent years, the local dairy sector in Pakistan has been facing constant\nmonitoring by Pure Food Law Authority, Punjab. Milk trucks were being stopped,\ntests carried out for milk contamination, and thousands of liters of milk was\nbeing wasted by the authorities. These acts are a threat to the livelihood and\nfood security of small and landless farmers and others associated to the supply\nchain. These happenings led to the Pakistan Kissan Mazdoor Tehreek (PKMT) and\nRoots for Equity to investigate the situation. The result was a series of\ndiscussions with communities to understand the issue as well as a desk research\nto make the connection to the imperatives behind the Pure Food Laws, Pakistan,\ntrade liberalization and corporate capture of livestock and dairy sector.\nPlease find the primers that are a result of an understanding of the situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
